Do you dream of being a carpenter, an architect or a superhero? Do you dream of recreating the story of Pinocchio? Do you design new inventions and create impossible constructions? Today we are going to talk about one of our most special toys: the tool bench, one of the best children's gifts you can give on Black Friday to get your letter to the Three Wise Men in advance.

Like any good symbolic toy, it is thousands of toys in one: it opens up possibilities for little ones to create their own worlds and generate a fascinating atmosphere of imagination and learning.

What is symbolic play?

If you still don't know what this term means, here is a clue and some small snippets to understand the importance of promoting it. It is the form of play or any spontaneous activity in which children use symbols or representations to create imaginary scenarios, imitate roles and explore fictitious situations . This allows them to naturally develop a wide range of cognitive, emotional and social skills, overcome fears and

According to the Swiss experimental psychologist, philosopher, pedagogue and biologist Jean Piaget, symbolic play begins around the age of two , starting with the simplest and becoming richer over time. It is common for the child to imitate “how”: pretending to sleep or eat, or project these actions onto objects, such as stuffed animals, dolls or objects of attachment.

Later, the symbol becomes more complex and transforms objects: a cardboard box becomes a pirate ship, a plastic bottle can be a spaceship, or a spoon becomes an airplane. The child creates all kinds of combinations to express himself freely: for example, his stuffed bunny eats something that makes him sick and he has to take it to the doctor.

Although it begins as an individual activity, when the child reaches 3 or 4 years of age, symbolic play becomes something collective, a more elaborate simulation in which different characters intervene and the little ones exchange a whole series of roles, such as family or work roles.

This is where toys like our tool bench come into play, a workbench that allows kids to fix and repair anything they can imagine, connect pieces for incredible constructions or design their own car.

It is recommended for children aged three and up, made from a natural and environmentally friendly material such as wood and very easy to clean, assemble and transport. These are some reasons to include it in your letter to their Majesties from the East or reserve it for Black Friday.

Five reasons to give your child a tool bench

Take a look at our tool bench and find out why it will provide happy and constructive times for your little one.

  • Hours and hours of fun guaranteed : what boy or girl doesn't have a blast screwing, cutting, twisting and taking apart pieces? The tool bench allows them to have their own miniature workshop, play alone or with others, exchange roles and feel incredibly creative.
  • A great toy to enhance psychomotor skills : the tool bench enhances both fine and gross psychomotor skills, as well as hand-eye coordination, spatial vision and the sense of touch.
  • A setting to recreate the world as they wish : with this toy, children advance in their maturation process, they use their mental activity to get into the skin of the characters and simulate very diverse scenarios, they face different fears and problems and put into practice behaviors learned through observation.
  • Great for playing with others: With the tool bench, children can pretend to be parents, teachers and other people in the real world, interacting with their peers and learning the value of cooperation. By playing with other children, they improve their use of language, enhance their social and communication skills and work on empathy and the expression of emotions.
  • Space for infinite imagination: symbolic toys allow children to give free rein to free play, to be someone else for a while, to gain confidence, autonomy and self-esteem, to relax by disconnecting from digital stimuli and exploring the world with curiosity.

There are many other symbolic toys in our shop, such as doll houses, kitchens, dolls and animals, the trades collection or vehicles and garages. Choose the one that best suits the tastes and preferences of the little one in the house!
