Bath time, like mealtime, is one of the times that children need to be able to do independently as soon as they are able to pick up a spoon or sponge to wash themselves.

We would not then speak of a specific age, there are children who are more autonomous than others, either because they have been taught early or because they like to do things alone.

What is important is that parents do not delay the moment of letting them take care of their personal hygiene for the sake of bathing them.

Bathing alone helps children to reaffirm their independence, they see that they are capable of doing things on their own and this makes them feel capable and self-sufficient. It is not about leaving them alone in the bathroom at three years old and letting them sort themselves out, because we could end up with a big mess or an accident, but about letting them be the ones to act and we become more and more spectators.
